Fort Simpson has two airports.  The commercial airport is 20 km outside of the village, near the ferry crossing.  The smaller airstrip for charter planes located right on the island which is used by local wilderness outfitters and flight-seeing tours of the Nahanni National Park Reserve and region.  This video shows taking off from the small airstrip in the village of Fort Simpson, with nice views of the Village near the end of the video.
