Hwy 1 – The Mackenzie Highway

In the Northwest Territories, the Mackenzie Highway (Hwy 1) will take you to Fort Simpson.   

From Alberta, take the Mackenzie Highway from High Level.  Make sure to fuel up in Enterprise, which is the last stop for gasoline until Fort Simpson.  As you leave Enterprise, any important ferry information for Fort Simpson will be clearly posted on the signs.

If you come from British Columbia, the Liard Highway (Hwy 77) north from Fort Nelson will take you to Checkpoint to meet up with the Mackenzie Highway which will bring you to Fort Simpson.

All the highways leading to Fort Simpson are partially paved with chip seal and gravel sections.  Drive with caution.  Visit the DehCho Connection to learn more.
