Two $2,500 Scholarships

In association with the Chambers of Commerce in Fort Simpson, Inuvik, Norman Wells, Fort Smith, Hay River and Yellowknife, the NWT Chamber of Commerce is the largest business advocacy organization North of 60.  The NWTCC will award scholarships to two qualified NWT students attending a post-secondary institution in an accredited business program during the 2013/2014 academic year.

 Purpose

To encourage the pursuit of business credentials and foster economic success by supporting entrepreneurship and business literacy across the NWT.

Criteria

The NWT Chamber of Commerce invites you to apply for scholarships if:

1. You are a resident of the Northwest Territories. Proof of residency is required—include a copy of your health care card, driver’s license, or GI card;

2. You have graduated from an NWT high school, with a Grade 12 diploma;

3. You are accepted by or enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution, on a full time basis with a full course load, in an accredited business program; and

4. You plan to return to work in the NWT after studies are completed.

Preference will be given to first-time recipients. Those who fail to complete training for which a scholarship was previously awarded are ineligible for future awards.

 Applications

Your completed application will include:

 A cover letter identifying the business program in which you’re enrolled and your personal and career goals and your desire to return to the NWT to work;

 A copy of your acceptance letter to a post-secondary institution and your most recent school transcripts;

 At least two letters of reference from non-family members;

 Proof of residency; and

 A signed copy of the application form.
