Mackenzie Valley Pipeline

Mackenzie Pipeline

The Mackenzie Valley Pipeline has been a project in the making for 37 years.  Starting with the Berger Inquiry in 1975, pundits have been studying the project and the Denendeh people have been speaking out about the project which will cut through their lands.

Move ahead 37 years, and the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline is again in the news, and for proponents of the project, the news is good.  Imperial Oil announced they are going ahead with the permits required to start work on the pipeline in 2013.  In Fort Simpson, the business community is cautiously hopeful that there will be no more delays to the potential business that will come their way once the project is up and running.
