YMCA High Demand Youth Internship Program

The YMCA of Greater Vancouver has received Federal funding from Human Resources and Skills Development Canada for the High Demand Youth Internship Program (HD-YIP) offered to Private Sector Employers in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories and Yukon.

The initiative of this program is to provide post-secondary graduates (college and university) the opportunity to build skills, develop confidence and benefit from the guidance and support of a workplace mentor.

Internships are full-time practical, broadly based assignments that help motivated graduates develop transferable skills needed to be successful. Internships are expected to run either 26 or 40 weeks.

Employers are reimbursed $8.00/hr from the Federal Government; for instance, the minimum an Intern can make is $16.00/hr, which means that 50% of the Interns wages are subsidized.

Currently, we have 35 Internship/Employer spots available for the 40 week Internship starting May 27th, 2013 and 94 Internship/Employer spots available for the 26 week Internship starting September 3, 2013
